When Can I Enroll in a 2025 Medicare Advantage (Part C) Plan?
You can only join or switch to a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan during certain times of the year, called enrollment periods.
To be eligible for a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan, also known as Part C, you must be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B.
There are four enrollment periods you need to know about. You can join a Medicare Advantage plan, like Clover Health, during these enrollment periods:
- Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): This is the seven-month period that begins three months before your 65th birthday, includes your birthday month, and ends three months after your birthday month.
- Annual Election Period (AEP): Every year, from October 15 to December 7, you can sign up, change, or drop a Medicare Advantage plan. Your coverage will start on January 1 of the following year. To learn more about AEP, click here
- Open Enrollment Period (OEP): From January 1 to March 31 each year, if you already have a Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch to a different Medicare plan or return to Original Medicare.
- Special Enrollment Periods (SEP): You may have a special chance to enroll if certain things happen, such as if you move or lose other insurance coverage. For more information about SEP, click here
