Travel Guide: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

There’s so much to love about the city of brotherly love.

By Clover Health

Philly has it all: history, art, green spaces, and great eats.

While many sights are iconic for a reason—the Liberty Bell, the "Rocky Steps" in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art— there are also plenty of lesser-known gems worth a visit to Pennsylvania’s largest city.

Where to Eat in Philadelphia

Bar Bombón

Stop by this colorful cafe with Puerto Rican roots and an all-vegan menu for brunch, appetizers, or dinner. Customer favorites include the buffalo cauliflower tacos, double “chorizo” burger and Latin chop salad.

Things to See in Philadelphia

Barnes Foundation

With the largest collection of Renoirs, more Cézannes than in all of France, plus important examples of African sculpture and metalwork, it’s safe to say this museum is worth a visit.

Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens

Artist Isaiah Zagar, his wife Julia, and other artists created this bi-level sculpture garden covered in mosaics. Tiles, bottles, bicycle wheels, and other materials celebrate and beautify the neighborhood.

Independence National Historic Park

Come for the Liberty Bell, stay for the 18th century garden or the site where Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence. Bringing kids? They’ll enjoy the Junior Ranger programs.

Things to Do in Philadelphia

Philly Phlash (Downtown Loop)

Feast your eyes while giving your legs a break on the Philly PHLASH, a convenient visitor-friendly bus. The downtown loop stops near plenty of museums and attractions— and seniors ride free!

The Schuylkill River Trail

One of the top-rated riverwalks in the country, this paved-over railroad track is perfect for a stroll or a ride. (You can even borrow a bicycle with the Bike Pottstown Bike Share program!)

Fun Fact!

Philly is the second-largest city on the East Coast with a diverse population of 6 million people.
